This pub has a long history that you may read about inside, but, briefly, it was once the last stop for travellers beginning the perilous crossing of the sands. Transportation developments and suburban sprawl have cut it off from the sea but left it with a pleasant canalside garden. In 198?, the licensed area was greatly extended for the benefit of car-borne diners but two older rooms - a locals' bar and a games room (down on the pub's original level) - were retained unaltered. Both halves of the pub seem quite successful. No music in the bar areas. Quiz Wed.

Open 11.30-11; Sun 11.30-10.30.
Food: 12-3, 5-9; Sat, Sun 12-9.
Getting there: Getting there: Bus 55A; buses 5 and 430 run along Coastal Road (A5109) - walk up Station Road or the Crescent and over the canal. If on the canal, leave at bridge 116.
